About MoMusings
What is MoMusings?
MoMusings is a blog which covers malware [viruses, worms, trojans, etc.], spyware, adware, scams and hoaxes and related net nuisances.
What is a Blog?
Here is a definition from Wikipedia: "A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photographs, videos or audio. The word blog can also be used as a verb, meaning adding an entry to a blog."
Who's Writes This Blog?
This blog is maintained by Martin Overton and I specialise in malware and anti-malware research. I have been involved in this area since about 1989. At that time there were only 30 known computer viruses, now there are over 200,000!
I have a number of published papers and magazine articles; links to these can be found elsewhere in this blog.
I am a charter member of AVIEN, APWG and a WildList reporter. Part of what I do is trap new malware, spam and scams. These are then analysed and where needed are sent onto the anti-virus vendors or law-enforcement representatives for action.
Can I Suggest That You Cover....?
Sure, please feel free to suggest things that you would like me to cover. Likewise if you receive , or find something suspicious, such as a possible scam, hoax or malware sample send it on to me via my other blog - Vsub.
Do you have any other blogs or RSS feeds?
There is a blog which I maintain which covers the new malware that I trap, you can find it here.
I also use Google Reader for the many blogs I subscribe to, and I share articles that I think are interesting via the 'shared articles' feature.
They are available as a page here (and there's a feed too)
